Baylor Bears Have A Solid Point Guard In Kenny Chery

Pierre Jackson was the best player on the Baylor Bears last season and one of the best in the country for that matter. Baylor beat a solid team without him in the first game of the 2013-14 college basketball season and point guard Kenny Chery was very impressive.

Chery is not expected to score as much as Jackson, but he is expected to put up some points and be the field general of this team. Surprisingly enough, Chery led the team in scoring against Colorado. He dropped 14 points and also had four rebounds and four assists to go along with that.

Chery’s performance was not a fluke. The Buffaloes are a great team and they have many key players back from last year’s NCAA tournament team.

Who knows how Chery will fair in his second game or for the rest of the season, but he managed to lead his team right off of the bat.

Winning the first game of the season is always good news, but beating a team as tough as Colorado right away is huge. Baylor did not make the dance last season and it already has a pretty big win on its resume.

The Bears have now won six games in a row dating back to last season. I doubt the Bears will win a national title this season, but they are more than capable of making a deep run in the dance.

It would be nice if Isaiah Austin would turn into a star, but I am still waiting for that to happen. Regardless, Chery answered a lot of questions in Baylor’s first game.
