It seems as though standout senior performers are becoming more rare with each passing year in college basketball. With that said, coaches around the country always value the leadership qualities provided by those who remain in college for their full four years of eligibility. Who are the best of the best in 2014-15? Here are the top 10 seniors in the country heading into the new campaign.

Dawson spent the first three years of his career playing in the shadow of high-scoring teammates at Michigan State. All that will change this season for the talented 6-foot-6 forward. Coming off a campaign in which he averaged 11.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per contest, Dawson seems poised to enjoy a huge senior season for the Spartans.

9. JayVaughn Pinkston, Villanova

Tough and physical, Pinkston is one of the most difficult players to defend in the Big East. A tremendous finisher inside who is also stout on the defensive end, Pinkston averaged 14.1 points and 6.1 rebounds in leading the Wildcats to a 29-5 record in 2013-14. Expect even better numbers for the 6-foot-7 forward this season as Villanova goes for another league title.

8. Kevin Pangos, Gonzaga

A heady point guard who can also score when necessary, Pangos is the leader of a highly skilled backcourt for coach Mark Few’s Bulldogs. Playing alongside the likes of Byron Wesley and Gary Bell, Jr., Pangos, who paced Gonzaga in with a 14.4 scoring average in 2013-14, should put together an even better season in 2014-15.

7. D.J. Newbill, Penn State

A deadly scorer who carried the Nittany Lions at times last season, Newbill will be Penn State’s top offensive option heading into 2014-15. Look for the 6-foot-4 guard to post big numbers again this season after averaging 17.8 points per contest for coach Pat Chambers’ Nittany Lions during the 2013-14 campaign.

A highly-skilled performer, the 6-foot-5 Wright returns for a Utes squad looking to move up in the Pac-12 standings this season. Coming off a campaign that saw Wright average 15.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per contest, Wright could challenge for conference Player of the Year before the 2014-15 season comes to an end.

Williams does it all for the Gauchos of the Big West Conference. At 6-foot-7 and 275 pounds, Williams bullied his way to averages of 21.3 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game in 2013-14. The reigning Big West Player of the Year figures to post similar numbers in his senior season for coach Bob Williams and UC-Santa Barbara.

With Stanford looking to replace a pair of key players from last year’s NCAA tournament team, Randle’s game could soar to new heights this season. An intelligent performer who can score at a high level, Randle poured in 18.8 points per game a year ago, and should again lead the Cardinal offensively in 2014-15.

3. Jerian Grant, Notre Dame

A big-time performer for coach Mike Brey, Grant returns to the mix looking to build off a standout junior season in South Bend. An excellent outside shooter capable of carrying the Fighting Irish offensively, Grant averaged 19 points per game while connecting on 40.8 percent of his 3-point attempts in 2013-14. The 6-foot-5 guard figures to put up similar numbers as 2014-15 moves along.

Versatile and skilled, the 7-foot Kaminsky is expected to build off a huge season in Madison last year. Capable of playing either inside or on the perimeter, Kaminsky paced the Badgers in scoring a season ago with his 13.9 points per game average. The returning first-team All-Big 10 performer is expected to again lead the Badgers in 2014-15.

One of the nation’s best scorers, Haws is looking to make his final season with coach Dave Rose’s team a memorable one. A deadly shooter who can put up points in a hurry, Haws poured in 23.2 points per contest in 2013-14 while leading the Cougars to 23 wins. Expect more of the same from the 6-foot-5 guard as BYU looks to make their second straight appearance in the NCAA tournament during 2014-15.
