The Kentucky Wildcats and Kansas Jayhawks met up in the Champions Classic. In case you missed the game, just know that Kentucky handled Kansas with ease. After all, Kentucky did win by the score of 72-40. Although it may be overplayed and very boldJohn Calipari‘s team literally has enough talent to go undefeated.

The only team that could beat the Kentucky Wildcats right now is … the Kentucky Wildcats. Literally, Kentucky runs a platoon — basically two starting fives — and its biggest challenge would likely be the two groups of five going against one another.

Although that might be a little extreme, and I am sure teams like the Wisconsin Badgers and Duke Blue Devils would think otherwise, it may be true.

Kentucky is not going to play another team as tall, deep and talented as it. Name another team that is so talented and deep that it has to be split up into two groups of five. Here’s the kicker, both groups of five are equally talented groups. Both groups are going to be fresh every time they hit the court, which means other teams will without a doubt wear down some throughout the game.

The college basketball season is very long. Other teams are going to emerge, and Kentucky could certainly have an off-night. Not to mention, who knows if this platoon system is going to work for the entire year.

The bottom line is the Wildcats looked way better than Kansas, and they are capable of playing better. The Jayhawks certainly are as well, but if Kentucky is this good right now, just imagine how good it will be come March.

Whether if this team actually goes undefeated remains to be seen, but it certainly is a possibility.
