Perhaps the most underrated matchup of the early 2014-15 college basketball season, the Utah Utes will take on the BYU Cougars away from home on Wednesday, December 10, at 9 PM EST on ESPNU.

Utah is ranked No. 13 in the country and are coming off of a monumental upset over the then No. 8 Wichita State Shockers. Their lone loss was away from home to a very talented San Diego State Aztecs team, which reveals that this team can struggle to score the ball at times.

BYU is the No. 1 ranked scoring offense in the country, averaging over 94 points per game and 20 assists. The Cougars are capable of beating any team in the nation, because there are few better scorers in college basketball than Tyler Haws and one player can change everything in big games.

Between these two teams, neither has lost a game by more than two scores and all losses have come away from home or on a neutral court. Both teams are in must-win situations, because Utah doesn’t want to lose momentum and BYU will want to avoid another early-season loss.

The key matchup between these two teams will be whether or not BYU can handle Utah’s tough, efficient offense. The Cougars do not even rank in the top 300 defensively when it comes to points allowed per game, meaning that Utah, the eighth ranked team in college basketball when it comes to shooting percentage, should be able to put up enough points to win this one.

Prediction: Utah 84, BYU 80
