Strong defense has long been a staple of Hoyas teams and the 2014-15 campaign is no exception. With seven regular season conference games remaining, the Hoyas lead the Big East in FG percentage defense at 39.7 percent. If Georgetown’s defense can continue to perform, the Hoyas should be in good shape heading down the stretch.

Georgetown currently stands at 15-7 overall and 7-4 in Big East play with seven games left on its regular season schedule. Included on slate are two games each against St. John’s and Seton Hall to go along with single dates versus Villanova, DePaul and Butler. Expect the Hoyas to win at least three of those games. Therefore, they will claim 10 Big East victories.

The versatile junior guard has stepped up to lead Georgetown in scoring this season at 15.8 points per outing. In conference play, Smith-Rivera has been even better, pouring in 16.9 points per game while leading Georgetown in scoring 10 times. Expect the 6-foot-3 Indianapolis native to be rewarded with a spot on the All-Big East team for 2014-15.

Georgetown missed the Big Dance in 2014 but figures to return in 2015. The Hoyas currently stand at 24 in the RPI and boast a top 10 ranking in strength of schedule. Barring a string of late season defeats, Georgetown should find itself solidly in the NCAA tournament field by mid-March.
