Kansas State vs. West Virginia: Game Preview, Prediction

Thanks to a four-game losing streak, the only way the Kansas State Wildcats will make it to the 2015 NCAA Tournament will be winning the Big 12 Tournament. The Wildcats, picked to finish fourth in the conference by the preseason media poll, have been one of the most disappointing teams in the country, despite losing seven games by two baskets or less.

At this point of the season, all Kansas State can do is try to improve their Big 12 Tournament seeding in order to make their 2015 NCAA Tournament hopes just a little less impossible. Their next opportunity will come against the West Virginia Mountaineers away from home on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. ET on ESPNU.

West Virginia just needs to win two or three of their remaining games to be a solid lock for the 2015 NCAA Tournament, but they will be hoping to fight their way back into the discussion for the Big 12 regular season title and a top three seed in the Big Dance. After back-to-back losses, a momentum swinging win over a good opponent like Kansas State could be just what this WVU team needs to get back on track.

However, Kansas State is no pushover. Thomas Gipson and Marcus Foster are two elite college basketball players; the problem has been that very few other players step up. Expect more of the same, as West Virginia gets a good win over probably the best .500 team in the nation.

Prediction: West Virginia 74, Kansas State 68
