The Indiana Hoosiers slipped into the 2015 NCAA Tournament as one of the last at-large teams selected. But it’s not likely that the Hoosiers will be sweating out Selection Sunday next season.

On Sunday, Indiana guard Yogi Ferrell announced that he would bypass the NBA Draft and return to school next season, giving Tom Crean and his team a big lift. Ferrell led the Hoosiers in scoring at 16.3 points per game last season and was fourth in the Big Ten in assists, at 4.9 per game.

With Ferrell’s return, Indiana will have its top eight scorers back from a 2015 team that finished with a record of 20-14 overall and 9-9 in Big Ten play. The Hoosiers were eliminated in the first round of the NCAA Tournament by Wichita State.

Having Ferrell, James Blackmon and Troy Williams all returning next season, Indiana should be in the hunt for a Big Ten title, which would take quite a bit of heat off of Crean. However, if the 2016 Hoosiers should underachieve, Crean could be out of a job.

Indiana has not been to the Final Four since finishing as national runners-up in 2002. The Crimson and Cream faithful would love to see their team back on college basketball’s biggest stage. If Crean can get his 2016 team to play well and play together, a Final Four might not be out of the question.

The Hoosiers will also add Thomas Bryant, a top 50 recruit in the class of 2015. Bryant is a 6-10 post player, who will give Indiana frontcourt depth that it needs.

It appears that all of the pieces are in place for Indiana to be really good next season. Time will tell if the Hoosiers actually live up to those expectations.
