If you are not the Maryland Terrapins, good luck winning a title in the 2015-16 college basketball season.

Okay, so teams like the Duke Blue Devils, Kentucky Wildcats and others will definitely compete for a title. It is Maryland who keeps getting surprisingly better over the offseason. And it is former Duke sharpshooter Rasheed Sulaimon who will be joining the Terps in the upcoming season.

Maryland didn’t win a championship this past year. It didn’t even make the Final Four. It did finish with a 28-7 record, though. The Terps also made the dance as a No. 4 seed and finished in second place in the Big 10 standings. Their starting five is going to be elite in 2015-16.

Melo Trimble could lead a college team to victory on his own, but he is clearly not alone. Jake Layman could have entered the draft and he would have easily been picked up. Also, if you don’t know Diamond Stone yet (what an awesome name), you better start doing some research. According to ESPN.com, Stone is ranked No. 6 in the 2015 recruiting class.

Then there is Sulaimon, the reason why we are here. He certainly had his struggles at Duke, but he is a top shooter in college basketball. In the right role, which apparently didn’t exist at Duke outside of Sulaimon’s freshman season, he can be deadly. As a freshman, he averaged 11.6 points per game and made 37.1 percent of his threes.

This is big news for Sulaimon and this is big news for the Terps. The season may be a long time from now, but the Terrapins are going to be rocking a solid ranking entering 2015-16, they could win the Big 10 and a Final Four appearance and beyond is not out of the question.
