Wisconsin vs. Maryland College Basketball Preview, TV Schedule, Prediction

TV Schedule: Saturday, Feb. 13, 6:30 p.m. ET, ESPN

Stadium: XFINITY Center

The 2015-16 Wisconsin Badgers are not the 2014-15 Wisconsin Badgers. Not even close. Still, they could make some serious noise in the Big Ten with a victory over the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday. They could also shake-up the conference title race in the process.

Wisconsin has now won six games in a row, which brings its overall record to 15-9 and Big Ten record to 7-4. The Badgers are now just 2.5 games back in the conference title race. Remember, this was a team that was 9-9 not too long ago.

The Terrapins are also red-hot, as they have won their last five contests in a row. During that winning streak, they have knocked off squads like the Iowa Hawkeyes and Purdue Boilermakers. Maryland’s record sits at 22-3 and it is 10-2 in conference play. As a result, it is tied for first in the Big Ten.

While the college basketball season is getting awfully close to March, a time when literally anything can happen in this sport, Maryland gets this game at home, and it has already knocked off Wisconsin once in 2015-16.

It also has Melo Trimble and a very talented group of players around him. To put the cherry on top, Maryland can win with offense or defense, and it is ranked No. 2 in college hoops.

Heck, this time next week, the Terps could end up being the No. 1 team in the country.

A win would go a long way for the Badgers, and they could use all of the marquee wins they can get right now, but Maryland is on another level, plain and simple.

PREDICTION: Badgers 69, Terrapins 79
