Excitement is abundant in College Park after a successful first season in the Big Ten for the Maryland Terrapins. The Terps are expected to be even better next season, as a talented recruiting class and key players return. Both the non-conference and conference schedules have been released, and Maryland is involved in a ton of marquee matchups. These are the five must-see Maryland basketball games in the 2015-16 season.

Maryland will travel to New York City on Dec. 8 to play Connecticut in the Jimmy V Classic this season. The Huskies missed the NCAA tournament last year after winning it all in 2013-14, but Kevin Ollie's squad shouldn't be down for long. These prestigious programs last met when UCONN edged the Terps by one point during the Huskies' championship season.

Maryland won two out of the three contests against Indiana last year, though none of the victories came easily. The Terrapins only face the Hoosiers once this season when Maryland travels to Bloomington for the last regular season game. Both teams are expected to be atop the Big Ten standings this year, so this game could have major implications. Maryland better be ready to contain Yogi Ferrell, who scorched the Terps for 21.6 PPG a season ago.

The Terrapins swept the Spartans in the regular season, but Michigan State got the last laugh by knocking Maryland out of the Big Ten tournament. These teams only meet once next year when the Terps enter the Breslin Center on Jan. 23. Last year, Maryland won a thrilling double-overtime game in East Lansing. Expect another close contest between two of the Big Ten's elite teams this season.

After a long hiatus, the Terrapins and Hoyas will finally rekindle a rivalry that's long overdue. As part of the Gavitt Tipoff games, Georgetown will travel to College Park on Nov. 17 in the first matchup between these local teams since 2008. The game renews a yearly competition that existed from 1947-1976, in which Maryland leads the all-time series 36-27. It's a great move not only for entertainment value, but for recruiting purposes as well.

It's bizarre to see Maryland on the opposite side of the Big Ten-ACC Challenge, but the Terrapins are involved in the marquee matchup of the contest this season. The Terps will travel to Chapel Hill on Dec. 1 to tangle with the Tar Heels. Coach Mark Turgeon will face his old mentor Roy Williams, whom he has never defeated at Maryland. We could see a showdown between the nation's top two teams if both squads remain unscathed heading into the game.
