Stadium: Imperial Arena

You better believe bragging rights for the state of Texas will be on the line when the Texas Longhorns take on the Texas A&M Aggies in the Battle 4 Atlantis.

Texas enters this game with a blemish already on its resume (lost to the Washington Huskies). That said, there is still plenty of talent on this team. Talents like Isaiah Taylor, who is averaging 16.5 points per game, and big man Cameron Ridley, who is averaging a double-double.

Also, don’t forget that the Longhorns acquired Shaka Smart‘s services in the offseason, and he is literally a genius when it comes to all things basketball (look what he did for the once-unknown VCU Rams).

However, the Aggies enter this early-season tournament with the fancy ranking and the perfect 4-0 record. Not only that, but Texas A&M has the high expectations to go along with those two features. That tends to happen when seniors return (Danuel House and Alex Caruso), and freshmen talent joins the party as well (I’m looking at you two, Tyler Davis and D.J. Hogg). Of course, those aren’t the only talents on this Aggies team.

Although this might not seem like the biggest game on paper, it is certainly one of those games that the NCAA tournament committee will look back on. Plus, the winner will advance to the next round, which will be played against the winner of the Gonzaga vs. Washington matchup.

Smart is going to have his guys rolling in no time, and Taylor is definitely one to watch out for all season long, but give me House & Co. in this Battle 4 Atlantis clash.

PREDICTION: Longhorns 71, Aggies 80
