Stadium: Verizon Center

Here’s a good old-fashioned Big East matchup for everyone. Of course, the Syracuse Orange no longer reside in the Big East, as they are now about that ACC life. The Georgetown Hoyas are still representing the conference, though, and perhaps for one day (Saturday, that is) we can just go into the past for a classic Big East clash.

Syracuse will bring a ranking and just one loss to the table when these two teams meet, while Georgetown has already dropped three games on the season. The Orange also hold wins against the Texas A&M Aggies and Connecticut Huskies, who were both ranked at the time. That said, they are coming off of a loss against the Wisconsin Badgers.

The Hoyas did not start the 2015-16 season off with fire, as they dropped two straight. The Hoyas did, however, knock off the Badgers.

Some key players to watch out for in this clash: Michael Gbinije and Trevor Cooney for Syracuse, and D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera for Georgetown.

Here’s something else fans should keep in mind: The Orange are losing Jim Boeheim to suspension much earlier than expected. That will surely make this rivalry more unusual than, well, usual. Not to mention, and once again, Syracuse is no longer a member of the Big East.

Syracuse might be without its leading man (aka its head coach), but the program still has talent all over the court. Nonetheless, get ready for a classic being played in modern times … if you will.

PREDICTION: Orange 60, Hoyas 55
