Ohio State vs. Michigan State College Basketball Preview, TV Schedule, Prediction

By Trevor Lowry

TV Schedule: Saturday, March 5, 12:00 p.m. ET, ESPN

Stadium: Breslin Center

The Ohio State Buckeyes could use some wins right about now (preferably signature wins). They find themselves on the wrong side of the bubble with just one regular season game remaining. Luckily — well, if they win, that is — the Buckeyes will take on the Michigan State Spartans next.

If Ohio State does pull off the upset, it will have recorded back-to-back upsets, which will certainly not go unnoticed by the tournament committee.

Winning out on that kind of momentum streak or not, Ohio State needs to do work in the Big Ten tourney, which is a tourney that will provide plenty of signature wins for everyone involved — because the conference is absolutely stacked.

With a victory over Ohio State, Michigan State can close the regular season on a six-game winning streak. When it comes to a No. 1 seed, the Spartans might need to capture said victory over Ohio State and make a run in the Big Ten tourney. As of right now, Joe Lunardi has the Spartans as a No. 2 seed in the field of 68, so a No. 1 seed is certainly in reach.

While the Buckeyes could use some serious wins right about now, it is about to go up against a team that just got done beating it by the score of 81-62 … and that contest was played at home for Ohio State.

Basically, things could get ugly in a hurry if Denzel Valentine & Co. play their game.

PREDICTION: Buckeyes 66, Spartans 78
