Ohio State Close to Verbal Commitment with 4-Star Linebacker

Ohio State signed one of the top inside linebackers, Trey Johnson,  in this year’s recruiting class that finished ranked inside the top-three classes in the nation and may get a commitment from one of the top outside linebackers in the 2014 class as soon as the Ohio State spring game.

Urban Meyer knows the importance of recruiting the state of Ohio and one of the state’s top linebackers, Dante Booker (Akron, Oh. St. Vincent-St. Mary) is reportedly leaning heavily in favor of committing to the in-state power.

According to Alex Gleitman of Elevenwarriors.com, “Many think it’s a matter of when, not if, Booker commits to Urban Meyer and I wouldn’t be surprised if that happened sometime this spring,”

The 6-3, 215-pound Booker holds offers form some of the best teams in the Big Ten including rival Michigan, Penn State and Nebraska among others, but the linebacker who comes from the same high school as LeBron James appears poised to be the fifth commitment in the 2014 recruiting class.

Further aiding the case for Ohio State is the fact that Booker’s teammate at St. Vincent-St. Mary’s, running back Parris Campbell, Jr. is already on board and could be another voice in the ear of Booker to help persuade him to come to Columbus.

Others that are already committed to Ohio State include cornerback Damon Webb (Detroit, Mi. Cass Technical), Kyle Trout (Lancaster, Oh. Lancaster) and Marcelys Jones (Cleveland, Oh. Glenville).
