Michigan State Spartan sophomore wide receiver Aaron Burbridge was named to the Biletnikoff Award watch list.
Burbridge was one of eight Big Ten receivers to be added to the award watch list, which is given each year to the top wide receiver in college football.
In 2012, Burbridge was a bright spot in a dismal Spartan receiving corps. Although he didn’t join the team until mid-season, he still managed to put up 29 receptions for 364 yards and two touchdowns, despite awful quarterback play all season long.
In the Spartans’ victory over Indiana, Burbridge had eight receptions for 134 yards, both of which were game-highs for him in 2012.
Going into 2013, Burbridge looks to be the star of the Spartan receiving corps and also looks to join the ranks of past greats to come out of Michigan State at the receiver position.
Burbridge also looks to become the second Spartan to win the award. In 2002, Charles Rogers was able to bring the award to East Lansing after putting up monster numbers for the Spartans. The other Big Ten receivers to win the award are Bobby Engram, Terry Glenn and Braylon Edwards.
Burbridge wasn’t the only receiver to be named to the Biletnikoff watch list from the Big Ten conference. Players like Jared Abbrederis, Kenny Bell, Corey Brown, Jeremy Gallon, Cody Latimer, Allen Robinson and Devin Smith all made the watch list.
