Eastern Kentucky vs. Louisville: Game Preview With TV Schedule

Louisville

Jamie Rhodes-USA TODAY Sports

The Louisville Cardinals burst onto the college football scene in 2012 and one main reason for this was the strong coaching of Charlie Strong. Another reason? Teddy Bridgewater and one of the best passing attacks in the nation. Coming into the 2013 season, the Cardinals are expected to finish undefeated — or close to it — because of their easy schedule.

On the other side of the field, Eastern Kentucky comes into the game following a game one win over Robert Morris, 38-6. This team isn’t exactly the most impressive FCS school, but they took care of business against a fellow FCS squad and could pose a possible Louisville squad possibly looking forward to week three.

Louisville, as I stated earlier, Bridgewater is the team’s top offensive threat and that was pretty obvious in the week one as he passed for 355 yards and five touchdowns while throwing just one interception. The Louisville offense should be relatively potent in 2013 behind the QB and a solid run game won’t hurt, either.

Eastern Kentucky finished with 401 yards of total offense in its win against Robert Morris in week one. Quarterback Jared McClain was the top performer of the week, passing for 155 yards and two touchdowns.

Louisville’s defense should be solid once again in 2013 as it finished in the top-25 in total defense a season ago. The Cardinals return nine starters on that side of the ball and held Ohio to just 273 yards and seven points in week one. Eastern Kentucky is another defense that is tough to judge because of the weak competition. They allowed 232 yards and six points to Robert Morris in week one.

Eastern Kentucky will be traveling to Louisville to take on the Cardinals at 12 p.m. EST on Saturday, Sept. 7. The game will be aired on ESPN 3.

PREDICTION: Eastern Kentucky 7, Louisville 44
