Top 5 College Football Games For Week 6

Northwestern Football
Jerry Lai-USA TODAY Sports

It might be hard to believe, but we are already entering Week 6 of college football, which is both awesome and depressing at the same time.

The first five weeks have blown by us, filled with great plays and great games each and every week, and the sixth will be no different.

Last week, we saw a whole host of great football games play out. Central Florida came within three points of pulling off a major upset of the South Carolina Gamecocks, a loss that certainly would have derailed their national title hopes.

The Oklahoma Sooners traveled to South Bend to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and were able to soundly beat them, getting revenge for their loss to the Irish in 2012.

The Ole Miss hype train was put on hold for a bit, as they went to Tuscaloosa to take on Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide and were shut out, something you don’t ever see from a Hugh Freeze offense.

Wisconsin traveled to Columbus to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes, who had star quarterback Braxton Miller returning from injury. Despite a late push from the Badgers, the Buckeyes were able to hold on and remain undefeated under Urban Meyer.

The headliner game was when LSU traveled to Georgia to face off in an SEC heavyweight match-up. It was an absolutely thrilling game, with Georgia coming out on top, 44-41.

This week, there are great conference match-ups all across the board, many featuring top 25 teams. Here are a few of the best games for Week 6.

Notre Dame’s season could get really ugly really fast if they aren’t able to beat Arizona State at home Saturday. The Sun Devils can score at will, so this will be a tough test for the Irish.

What’s this? Maryland is ranked and undefeated? That’s right, folks. The Terrapins already have as many wins as they did in 2012, but they’ll find out what they are really made of when they travel to Florida State to take on the ACC big boys.

Is this finally the year for Steve Sarkisian and the Washington Huskies? They have a great senior quarterback in Keith Price, but David Shaw and the Stanford Cardinal are playing at a national championship caliber.

1. No. 4 Ohio State at No. 16 Northwestern

Ohio State Football
Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

Ohio State has yet to lose under head coach Urban Meyer, but there are some folks in Evanston who would like to see that change. The Northwestern Wildcats have been flirting with being a major Big Ten contender, and this is their chance to prove they are.
