No one saw this one coming. The Central Florida Knights are ranked and it’s all thanks to a big upset win over the Louisville Cardinals and a 5-1 record to begin the season. Beating Louisville and handing them their first loss of the season is reason enough to rank this team No. 23 in the country.

On the other side of the field, the Connecticut Huskies have already fired their head coach after a rough start to the season. Connecticut is now sitting at 0-6 and there is seemingly no end in sight. It has been a rough season for the Huskies and has everyone ready for basketball season.

Central Florida is led by strong-armed quarterback Blake Bortles. The junior quarterback has 1,584 yards and 11 touchdowns on the season to go along with four interceptions and a 65 percent completion rate. This isn’t his first season as a starter, however, as the quarterback started all of last season and part of 2011. The experience he has has helped him lead the Knights to a 5-1 record and a national ranking. Breshad Perriman leads all wide outs with 435 yards and a touchdown on 20 catches. Don’t forget about the run game with Storm Johnson‘s 564 yards and eight touchdowns.

Connecticut, like I said earlier, is winless on the season and that’s no record a quarterback wants to have at the beginning of the season. That’s why the Huskies haven’t relied on just one quarterback to sink their record, they have two to do the job. Chandler Whitmer began the season as the starter, but his 55 percent completion rate, 896 yards, five touchdowns and six interceptions weren’t cutting it. Freshman quarterback Tim Boyle took over and hasn’t done much better, passing for 459 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions with a 45 percent completion rate. Oh yeah, and the run game ranks 5th-to-last in the nation.

Defensively, the Huskies rank 92nd in the nation in points allowed per game while also ranking 41st in the nation in yards allowed per game with just over 375. The Knights rank 20th in the nation in points allowed per game while ranking 34th in the nation in points allowed per contest.

Connecticut will travel to Central Florida to take on the Knights at 12 p.m. EST on Saturday, Oct. 26. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN 3.

PREDICTION: Connecticut 10, Central Florida 27
