The Indiana Hoosiers aren’t known for their football team. It doesn’t take a die-hard sports fan to know that. Well, the football team managed to get the Big 10’s attention — and the nation’s — with their upset victory over the Missouri Tigers.
Simply put, the Hoosiers do not upset ranked opponents very often, at least not in the last few years or so. Considering the Tigers came into this contest ranked, and are a serious threat in the SEC East, you could say this was a pretty big upset. Oh yeah, the Hoosiers also managed to win this one on the road. So much for the SEC being so big and mighty.
This victory puts Indiana at 2-1 for the season. Although it lost the previous game to Bowling Green, the Big 10 has to take notice. That is especially true when considering the conference is a little down from years past.
As for the Tigers, well, they couldn’t have lost at a worse time. Next up for Missouri is the South Carolina Gamecocks, a game that they will have to play on the road. After that? How about a matchup with the Georgia Bulldogs. And then after that contest, the Tigers will play Florida on the road.
Missouri could be in serious trouble considering its schedule, but today isn’t about Missouri, it’s about Indiana’s FOOTBALL team.
The Hoosiers just captured their biggest win in quite some time. It will be interesting to see if they can continue their streak against Maryland next.
Regardless, Indiana just showed that it can keep up with anyone in the country. After all, it did just beat a RANKED SEC team.
