How high can you count?

This game is going to get ugly, and it’s going to get ugly really fast. The No. 12 Baylor Bears have shown an incredible aptitude for putting points on the board. QB Bryce Petty and company will give this Jayhawks defense fits from the get-go.

Baylor has shown throughout the season that if a team isn’t ready for just a moment, they will make you pay. Just ask TCU, the No. 10 team in the nation. Down 21 points with 11 minutes to play, Baylor reeled off 24 points to win the game 61-58.

That’s usually a basketball score in college, and in many cases basketball teams don’t always reach that score. Unfortunately for Kansas, this isn’t basketball. If Kansas thinks they have any chance of keeping up with Baylor’s scoring average of 49 points per game (second nationally), the Jayhawks will need to make some serious changes. Kansas currently ranks 123rd in scoring average with 16.6 points per game.

In Baylor’s only loss of the season, the Bears scored their lowest point total of the year. It was still 27 points, 10.4 points higher than Kansas’ average. It just looks like Baylor could score three or four touchdowns without any effort. Kansas would need all sorts of help and luck to stay in the game.

However, Baylor’s loss was last week. Clearly West Virginia found something to exploit and made the Bears pay, but don’t expect that trend to continue. The Jayhawks have played up to their competition a time or two, but they haven’t shown the ability to beat anyone of consequence.

Unless you have a kid on Baylor’s third string, expect to change the channel very early in this game.

Prediction: Baylor 56, Kansas 13
