Fresh off a huge victory against the Michigan State Spartans, the Ohio State Buckeyes are now a serious contender for the College Football Playoff. They will, of course, need to win out, and may need some help from other teams. Regardless, the Buckeyes will take on a tough challenge in the Minnesota Golden Gophers next.
For what it’s worth, Minnesota has only lost two times this season. It is, however, coming off a blowout victory against the Iowa Hawkeyes, and has a great chance to make the Big 10 title game. The Golden Gophers cannot afford to lose to another Big 10 opponent, though.
Ohio State is averaging quite a bit of points this season (46 PPG), and stopping J.T. Barrett and co. will not be an easy task.
You would think the Buckeyes would have no problem beating Minnesota after scoring 49 points on the road against the Spartans. Although Minnesota could provide a tough test, I have to go with the Buckeyes in this one. I am probably not alone.
Ohio State is riding a seven-game winning streak and is arguably the best team in the conference right now. You can bet that this team will take care of business by winning this game and every other contest after that, at least in the regular season. Who knows if the Buckeyes will make the playoff, but when it is all said and done, they may only have one loss on the year.
Regardless, look for their lethal offense to come up big yet again, and for Minnesota to be no match.
Prediction: Ohio State 38, Minnesota 17
