The Ohio State Buckeyes came out of nowhere and beat the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide last week, and one of the main reasons why was because of the play from a man named Cardale Jones. As you already know, Jones was the third-string quarterback coming into the year, but that doesn't mean he isn't playing as if he's one of the best quarterbacks in the nation right now. Here are five things you didn't know about Cardale.

There has been a rumor floating around that Braxton Miller will transfer to either Oregon or LSU in the offseason. Considering that could be true, the quarterback situation at Ohio State will come down to J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones. Barrett was playing at a Heisman level before his injury, but if the Buckeyes win it all with Cardale at the helm, it's hard to see them turning back to Barrett.

Cardale is an in-state kid who played his high school football in Cleveland for Ted Ginn Sr. Interestingly enough, Ted Ginn Sr.'s son, Ted Ginn Jr., went to Ohio State and he has made a living in the playoff as an excellent kick returner and an explosive receiver. Cardale lettered in basketball and track, as well as football.

Cardale was a three-star recruit coming into Ohio State, but he had the raw tools to become a really good player for the Buckeyes. Offensive coordinator Tom Herman saw talent in Cardale, and him, as well as Urban Meyer, took a chance on the 6-foot-5, 250 pound quarterback. Cardale, a true sophomore, is shutting up all his critics right now.

Offensive coordinator Tom Herman wasn't fazed by the pressure when Barrett went down with the injury. One popular mantra is the next man up approach, and this mantra holds very true with the Buckeyes. Herman and Meyer have believed in Cardale from the start, and now seeing his final product, his coaches are even more amazed with him.

Cardale is a football player, which he made very clear in this tweet. The tweet reads, "Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS." While this tweet will annoy many people, it's just a funny thing Cardale said two years ago when he first arrived at campus.
