At one point, there was a chance that Colorado State would make a New Year's Six bowl. That certainly did not happen. Instead, CSU made the Las Vegas Bowl, where they were blown out by the Utah Utes, 45-10. Either the Pac-12 was really that good this year, or the Rams were just a tad overrated.

At the start of the season, Oklahoma was predicted by many to make the College Football Playoff. Simply put, the Sooners didn't make it. Although Oklahoma took on a solid opponent in Clemson to finish off the season, not many people expected the Sooners to only score six points. After all, Oklahoma averaged 36.4 PPG on the year.

Notre Dame lost four games in a row to close out the regular season. Therefore, the Fighting Irish weren't exactly the favorites going into a bowl game with the LSU Tigers. Still, Notre Dame found a way to win, and the SEC lost yet another game.

TCU had one heck of a season. It's too bad that the Horned Frogs didn't get a chance at the playoff, but they seemed to take all of their frustrations out on the Ole Miss Rebels. When the final whistle was blown, TCU won by the score of 42-3. Wasn't Ole Miss supposed to have the best defense or something?

Bo Wallace wasn't the best QB in the nation, but he was still a solid QB. Unfortunately, he did not show that against TCU. He had 109 passing yards, ZERO TDs and three INTs.

We should just expect Boise State to win every time they make the Fiesta Bowl. This time around, the Broncos beat the No. 10th-ranked Arizona Wildcats. Yes, they pulled off the Statue of Liberty play again.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs were the best team in college football for a good amount of time this season. Unfortunately, they couldn't win down the stretch. After winning nine straight, they could only manage one win in their last four tries, which included an upset loss to Georgia Tech in the Orange Bowl.

The Florida State Seminoles kept up with the Oregon Ducks in the Rose Bowl ... until the third quarter. To make a long story short, FSU would go on to lose by the score of 59-20. This was the same Florida State team that won 1,000 games in a row, or something like that (29 to be exact).

Alabama was the No. 1 team in the nation entering the Sugar Bowl. Unfortunately, Urban Meyer and co. pulled off the upset. Once again, the Crimson Tide will not be playing in the championship game, which they are expected to do on a yearly basis.

Many people predicted the Oregon Ducks to make the national championship. However, not many people predicted the Ducks and Buckeyes to play each other in said national championship. Thanks to the new College Football Playoff system, this matchup became a reality. If the new system wasn't put in place, Alabama and Florida State would have been battling it out for the title.
