The UCLA Bruins played a strong game against the Arizona Wildcats, starting the game fast and building an early lead. After giving up an early touchdown, the Bruins’ defense quickly turned it up and forced several turnovers. The offense was able to capitalize, and they were quickly running away with the game. The Wildcats made a little run in the second half, but the Bruins continued to put points on the board and made plays when they needed to. Unfortunately, while the team played well, there are still concerns about how good the defense can continue to be without some of their stars.

The team lost Eddie Vanderdoes in the first game, a player who was looking to form a dominant duo with Kenny Clark on the defensive line. Both are versatile, explosive athletes, who can line up in various fronts and give the opposing team all sorts of problems. Losing Vanderdoes is tough, but things have gotten even worse as of late.

Fabian Moreau, one of the team’s top corners, hurt his foot last week and losing him is another big blow for the team. Moreau has great attributes as a cornerback, and is a leader in the secondary. Ishmael Adams has returned which gives them a playmaker to help offset Moreau’s absence, but he is better suited to match up with slot receivers. Adams looked good against the Wildcats and other players have been moving around to fill the void after Moreau went down, but they will face tougher passing offenses down the road.

Perhaps the most devastating injury was losing Myles Jack, who is one of the top football players in the entire country. He starts at linebacker, but is talented enough to get carries as a running back. He is extremely fast and can cover many different positions. He can tackle players in space, but is strong enough to take on blockers and make plays in the backfield. There is no one who can fill his shoes, and it is no doubt a huge loss for the team.

The Bruins looked really good on Saturday night, and they beat a very good football team. There is still a lot of potential with this group, as they are extremely talented on both sides of the ball. The offense has a talented young quarterback with plenty of weapons. Defensively, the team has shown its depth by moving players around to still be a strong unit. But there are a lot of explosive offenses in the conference, and the team will need some players to step up to help offset all of the injuries.
