Top 10 teams going down was apparently the theme this week. Unfortunately for the UCLA Bruins, they were one of those top 10 teams that couldn’t capture the W this week.

On paper, the Arizona State Sun Devils knocking off UCLA is an upset. However, let’s not forget that the Sun Devils entered the 2015 season with plenty of hype, and they were bound to knock off a ranked opponent sooner or later.

The big question remains: Can the Bruins still make the College Football Playoff? The Bruins can still make the playoff … but they probably need a miracle. After all, UCLA has to win out … and it has a brutal path along the way. At this stage in the game, it also needs a ton of teams to lose.

The biggest thing that the Bruins have going for them is the fact that they close out the season against the Utah Utes and USC Trojans. Win those games, and then we will talk about playoff hopes. Lose one, and they don’t even enter the conversation.

Losing to Arizona State is not a bad loss, but in this day and age, if you are not a powerhouse, or don’t reside in the SEC, one loss is very, very damaging.

If anything, UCLA still has a great shot at winning the Pac-12, and that is a great consolation prize — to say the least.
