Ezekiel Elliott's Heisman Hopes And Ohio State's Playoff Dreams Go Down The Drain With Loss

The Michigan State Spartans didn’t have Connor Cook and the Ohio State Buckeyes were playing at home. You would think that would result in a blowout victory for the defending national champs … but it didn’t. Heck, it didn’t even result in a win.

After a major upset like this, many people might be wondering what this all means.

Here’s what the loss means for Ohio State: It is not going to make the Big 10 title — well, unless Michigan State somehow loses to the Penn State Nittany Lions to close out the regular season, and the Buckeyes knock off the Michigan Wolverines. With this loss, Ezekiel Elliott‘s Heisman hopes probably went down the drain as well.

What this means for the Spartans: They are now in control of their own destiny when it comes to making the Big 10 championship game, and they might have a shot at making the playoff.

One might be wondering how the Buckeyes could be eliminated from the playoff? After all, they only have one loss, and it came against one of the best teams in the country. Well, if they don’t make their conference championship game, then they don’t deserve to play for the national championship. It is really that simple. Also, keep in mind that the Iowa Hawkeyes are still undefeated.

Elliott could only manage 33 rushing yards in the biggest game of 2015. Even though Elliott has rushed for more than 100 yards in every other clash, the Heisman is won/lost in main events. Sad, but true. Also, it’s not like Elliott was the leader for the trophy entering Week 12, making his dud of a performance that much more painful.

Tough, tough day for the Buckeyes. Meanwhile, everything is now back on the table for Michigan State.

Talking about a 360.
