Ohio State RB Ezekiel Elliott Should Be Heisman Leader After Masterful Performance Against Michigan

What a difference a week can make.

The Ohio State Buckeyes finally looked like the best team in the country (it basically took the entire season for that one to happen), and running back Ezekiel Elliott looked like the best player in college football. Side note: Elliott has been consistent all season long … minus the game against the Michigan State Spartans.

When the final whistle was blown, Ohio State won by the score of 42-13. As for Elliott, well, he racked up 214 rushing yards and two TDs. May I remind everyone that the game was played against the Michigan Wolverines, a team that has been very stingy on defense all year. Plus, the Buckeyes were playing away from home.

Alabama‘s Derrick Henry, Clemson‘s Deshaun Watson and others will still be in the Heisman race, but Elliott just did the most important thing when it comes to winning the ultimate individual award — he had a masterful performance on the biggest stage.

Keep in mind, Elliott has only had one “bad” game. He has rushed for 100 or more yards in every single game except for the contest against the Spartans. His freakishly consistent play has to count for something.

Now, Ohio State becomes the Penn State Nittany Lions‘ biggest fan. After all, if Penn State knocks off Michigan State, the Buckeyes will make the Big 10 championship game.

In terms of the Heisman, good luck to the voters on that one.
