Randrecous 'Dreak' Davis Has Georgia Tattoo, Signs With South Carolina

By Brad Berreman

College football recruiting is a competitive game, with coaches going to great lengths to secure commitments and ultimately signed letters of intent from top recruits. Recruits often flip their commitments, as we saw during Wednesday’s signing day, but when a kid goes to the point of a physical imprint it’s hard to think he’ll change his mind at the last minute.

That was not the case with wide receiver Randrecous “Dreak” Davis out of the Atlanta area, who committed to Georgia last summer, got a tattoo of the “G” logo on his left bicep and then signed with SEC-rival South Carolina on Wednesday. The coaching change in Athens surely had something to do with Davis changing his mind, with Mark Richt leaving for Miami, but getting a permanent body mark signifies a commitment not too far from being a marriage. One of Richt’s former assistants, Bryan McClendon, is now at South Carolina, so Davis’ commitment to the school is not that big of a reach.

Davis is a four-star recruit, and he also considered following Richt to Miami, so he’s a great get for South Carolina and new head coach Will Muschamp. He’ll look odd with a rival school’s logo on his body, which will be visible when he’s in uniform, but if he produces Gamecocks fans surely won’t care what tattoos Davis has.
