Cowboys Rank 14th in Rant Sports Week 5 NFL Power Rankings

The Cowboys moved up two spots in the weekly Rant Sports NFL Power Rankings despite a bye week. Dallas jumped from 16 to 14, leaping the also idle Vikings. The latter is the most surprising since Minnesota acquired Randy Moss over their break in a trade with New England. As mentioned in the post, it’s difficult to analyze a bye week, but the Cowboys have been excellent in the weeks following a bye during head coach Wade Phillips’ three-year tenure. The Bears are still ahead of Dallas despite a ghastly loss to the Giants and Houston also remains in the top 10 ahead of the Cowboys after their September 26th thrashing. Dallas is the highest of all NFC East teams, however. Washington and Philadelphia currently hold spots 16 and 17 while the Giants actually fell from 19 to 21 despite a win...
