The San Diego Chargers announced today that they have signed Wide receiver Malcom Floyd to a three-year contract extension that will carry through the 2015 season.

The 6-5, 225-pounder signed a two-year deal with the team shortly after the NFL Lockout ended last season. Floyd is one of the NFL’s most talented downfield threats as his 17.9-yard average per catch would attest. His career totals include 190 catches for 3,397 yards and 21 touchdowns. If Floyd had the necessary 250 catches to qualify for the team’s all-time list, his yards per catch average would rank third-highest in team history.

Over the 2010-11 seasons, Floyd averaged 19.7 yards per catch as he hauled in 80 passes for 1,573 yards and 11 touchdowns, and already this season he leads the team with 13 catches for 227 yards (17.5 avg.).
