The San Diego Chargers have come up short this season against great quarterbacks.  San Diego lost to the Atlanta Falcons and they lost to the New Orleans Saints.

Atlanta QB Matt Ryan ranks second in the NFL with 13 touchdown passes this season and ranks second in QB rating.  Ryan had three touchdowns and one interception against San Diego in week two.

New Orleans QB Drew Brees leads the NFL in passing yards and TD passes.  Brees had four touchdowns and one interception on Sunday against San Diego.

San Diego allows 6.7 yards per pass attempt which ranks ninth in the NFL, but they allowed 11 TD passes as well which ranks 27th in the league.  This is due to their struggles against elite quarterbacks.

San Diego has three games left on their schedule against great quarterbacks.  San Diego will play the Denver Broncos on Monday and will play them again in week 11.  Peyton Manning ranks fourth in the NFL in passing yards, TD passes and QB rating.

San Diego will play the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road in week 13.  Ben Roethlisberger ranks fifth in the NFL in passing yards and TD passes while he is sixth in QB rating.

There are some silver linings though because in Manning’s career against San Diego, he has 12 touchdowns and 16 interceptions.  Roethlisberger has three touchdowns and two interceptions against the Chargers.

Manning has a 4-3 record against San Diego while Big Ben is 3-1 against them.  San Diego will be in for a battle in these games, so the defensive line needs to put pressure on these quarterbacks and the secondary has to step up.
