Minnesota Vikings Rumors: Cordarrelle Patterson to Start in Week 1?

Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports

Earlier this spring, the Minnesota Vikings addressed the need at wide receiver via both the NFL Draft and free agency. They first signed Pro Bowl wide receiver Greg Jennings formerly of the Green Bay Packers. The second move they made was to draft Cordarrelle Patterson out of Tennessee.

After trading Percy Harvin to the Seattle Seahawks, there were major questions at the position. By making those moves, the Vikings put themselves in a much better position.

They also re-signed wide receiver Jerome Simpson, and at the moment he is atop the depth chart, slated to start in week one.

But, as the chatter continues to grow about the potential of Patterson there are some who are wondering if he may wind up starting in week one. Not only are there people speculating about the matter, but some would like it to happen.

Patterson gives the Vikings an incredible amount of speed on the outside and combined with his 6’3” frame, they could have their next big-time wideout since Randy Moss.

Because of the fact that Simpson seemed like such a flop last year, lots of fans want to see what Patterson can do and already there are questions surrounding training camp about Patterson playing with the first team.

One of the more interesting things Patterson can bring to the team is his ability to also carry the ball out of the back field. Last season with Tennessee, he carried the ball 25 times for 308 yards. He could wind up taking on one of the roles that Harvin had and then some.

So, will he wind up starting in week one? Things are sure starting to sound like it would be a real possibility.

Russell Wilson Is A Freaking Magician

There aren't too many quarterbacks who could make this play. Russell Wilson had to run 10-15 yards to recover the ball, then escape pressure and find a wide-open Tyler Lockett for the biggest play of the game. If the Seahawks win, this will be the turning point.
