As inconsistent as the Redskins are, they’ll still be too much for a pitiful Vikings team to handle for 60 minutes. Even when Minnesota seems competitive, they find a way to choke away the lead in the waning minutes while handing themselves a loss. Don’t be surprised to see Robert Griffin III and Co. put up big numbers on a horrid Vikings defense.
Winner: Redskins
The loss of Aaron Rodgers is going to effect the Packers in numerous ways, and it’s going to cost them in the short-term. Opposing defenses will be able to key in on the run, which is going to force the offense off the field quicker. That means the Green Bay defense will be on the field longer, and Nick Foles is going to have another field day on his way to the Eagles' fifth win.
Winner: Eagles
At this point in the season, the Jaguars are looking anywhere they can to find their first win. Unfortunately, it won’t be in Nashville. The Titans are coming off a big win against the Rams that saw Chris Johnson finally looking a little like CJ2K. Especially against a subpar Jaguars defense, look for Johnson to continue his bounce back attempt.
Winner: Titans
The Bills continue to get the short end of the stick despite considerable competitiveness, but that will change this week. Especially with E.J. Manuel expected to make his return from a knee injury, the Bills offense will be clicking. The Steelers, however, looked ugly last weekend and aren’t getting any better. With horrid pass blocking and a defense that’s been victimized all year long, Pittsburgh will fall short again.
Winner: Bills
After getting shredded by the Eagles’ passing game last weekend, the Raiders will be desperate to salvage their dignity against the Giants. All season long, Eli Manning has been mistake prone, and Oakland will be rearing to capitalize on every one. With Charles Woodson leading the secondary, look for the Raiders to force some key turnovers and come away with a hard-fought victory.
Winner: Raiders
Until the Rams find a better option at quarterback, they don’t stand much of a chance of landing in the win column. On the other hand, the Colts are enjoying some of the best quarterback play courtesy of Andrew Luck. The second-year stud has the Indianapolis offense playing at a very high level, and the defense is playing with the same tenacity. Unless something drastic happens, the Colts should cruise in this one.
Winner: Colts
Having lost four of their last five, the Falcons are all but done in 2013. The team looks down, and players on both sides of the ball are phoning it in. Meanwhile, the Seahawks have played through tons of adversity to an 8-1 record with the help of an elite defense and sneaky offense. Look for Marshawn Lynch to plow his way through the Atlanta defense on the way to another big win.
Winner: Seahawks
As fragile as the Bengals appeared following their Week 9 loss, they’re certainly going to stiffen up against their divisional foes. The Ravens have been a mess lately, due in large part to their incompetent offense – especially on the ground. Unless Baltimore can summon some of that reigning champ magic, they won’t be able to overcome Giovani Bernard and Cincinnati’s explosive offense.
Winner: Bengals
A divisional showdown for the temporary crown should provide plenty of sparks. The Bears are coming off a big win against the Packers, and are enjoying the surprising play of Josh McCown. Even if they get Jay Cutler back, though, they don’t have the defense to slow down the Detroit passing attack. Matt Stafford and Calvin Johnson have been wrecking defenses all season long, and will stick with it against the Bears.
Winner: Lions
This could end up being the game of the week, with the Panthers riding a four-game winning streak. The only problem is they have yet to face a quality team in that stretch, which means they could be in for a rude awakening against the 49ers. As good as Cam Newton has been, he won’t be able to outscore Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco offense in this one.
Winner: 49ers
Despite their six-game losing streak, the Texans finally appear to have found a capable quarterback in Case Keenum to lead their offense moving forward. Even though the Cardinals have a dominant defense, the young gunslinger should have success through the air. Arizona doesn’t have much firepower on offense, and won’t be able to keep up on the scoreboard.
Winner: Texans
The Chargers might be looking better this year than in seasons passed, but they’re still one of the most inconsistent teams in the NFL. That’s not a good way to win against Peyton Manning, who has basically sewn up the 2013 MVP Award already. He’ll spend all 60 minutes shredding the Chargers’ subpar secondary for more points than San Diego can keep up with.
Winner: Broncos
Suffering only their second loss of the season last weekend, the Saints will be looking for a big bounce back in Week 10. Hosting the inconsistent Cowboys, they shouldn’t have too much trouble getting back on track. Dallas has fielded a poor secondary all season long, which will give Drew Brees and Jimmy Graham the perfect opportunity to play some pitch and catch.
Winner: Saints
While the Buccaneers are far from a competent team, they did almost knock off the one-loss Seahawks and Mike Glennon appears to be clicking as Tampa Bay’s quarterback. The Dolphins meanwhile, are caught in a media storm with the Jonathan Martin – Richie Incognito situation. The distraction – and the Dolphins’ depleted offensive line – will allow Gerald McCoy and Co. to shut down the Miami offense.
Winner: Buccaneers
