New Orleans Saints Fans Organizing Their Own ‘Rocky Run’ in Philadelphia For Saturday

(Derick E. Hingle/USA Today Sports)

After a long week of anticipation and excitement, Saturday’s matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and New Orleans Saints is finally almost here as these two teams are expected to provide fans with a shootout in what could be one blistering cold game. With the way they’ve played on the road this season, the Saints will enter Saturday’s game as underdogs (believe it or not) as they finished with a 3-5 record on the road this season, but that doesn’t mean Lincoln Financial Field won’t be rocking with New Orleans fans when the game gets underway.

In won’t be easy, but it looks like Saints fans are willing to do whatever it takes to help their team pull off a big win on the road so they can travel west for a key Divisional Round matchup against the Seattle Seahawks–including their own version of the Rocky run.

It’s no secret that when it comes to sports in the City of Brotherly Love, Rocky (who was played by Sylvester Stallone in all six movies) has always been an icon and the famous scene of him running up the stars of the Philadelphia Art Museum will give you chills every time you see it. So with the Saints coming to town this weekend, it appears a group of New Orleans fans is trying to organize a run of their own up the steps Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m.

As a die-hard Eagles fan myself and as a message to all fans across the Philadelphia area–are we going to let this happen? Are we going to let Saints fans take part in this amazing tradition of ours while playing the Rocky theme song and running up the stairs wearing black and gold?

All I can say is good luck–because I’m sure there’s going to be plenty of Eagles fans there waiting to make sure this Saints-themed “Rocky run” doesn’t happen.
