NFL Oakland Raiders
By Chris Ross @DraftScout_NFL
Despite the turmoil surrounding the Oakland Raiders right now, their 2014 NFL Draft class actually brought in a few solid players. General Manager Reggie Mckenzie might not be able to save his job, but the work he did in the 2014 draft was actually pretty impressive. With that said, here are the first quarter grades for every Raiders' draft pick.
Grade: A
The Raiders got an absolute stud in linebacker Khalil Mack in the first round, and he will be a long-term star on the Raiders' defense. Mack doesn't yet have any sacks, but with his talent and ability to rush the passer, it's only a matter of time before he is an elite player.
Grade: B+
It hasn't always been pretty for Derek Carr, but the fact he has been able to start for the Raiders as a rookie shows how talented the man is. Carr's statistics might not jump off the page, but his leadership and arm talent make him a potential franchise quarterback.
Grade: C+
Gabe Jackson hasn't played great at times for the Raiders, but he has flashed immense talent at points this season. Jackson is athletic and powerful, and if he can make some adjustments to his technique, he could be great.
Grade: C
Like Jackson, Justin Ellis hasn't been consistent, but he has shown flashes of dominance. Ellis is an extremely powerful defensive tackle, and he has the talent to be a force in the future.
Grade: D
The rest of the Raiders' draft class lacked any top-notch talent, as every player drafted after Ellis has yet to make any sort of impact. Hopefully, these rookies can improve and become key players in the future, but it's clear they aren't ready yet.
