When you think of elite defensive ends in the NFL, the name Cameron Jordan probably isn’t the first name that comes to mind. With so many elite players at the position, the New Orleans Saints‘ defensive end has been overlooked throughout his career. Make no mistake, however, Jordan is an elite player.

Now in his fourth NFL season out of California, Jordan has proven time and time again that he is one of the best defensive linemen in the league today. Blessed with tremendous size and athletic ability, Jordan has gone from raw rookie project to perennial Pro Bowler in just a few short seasons. As a matter of fact, as Jordan enjoys another great season in 2014, it’s fair to wonder if the is the most underrated defensive end in the NFL.

If there is one particular area in which Jordan has improved the most over the course of his career, it’s his pass-rushing ability. After only being able to register a single sack in his rookie season, Jordan has 24.5 sacks since 2012. Jordan came on particularly strong during a breakout 2013 campaign that saw him amass 12.5 sacks, as well as grade out very well against the run. Still just 25 years old, Jordan is just now scratching the surface of his full potential, and that is exciting for the Saints’ entire defense.

There’s simply no doubt that Jordan is an elite defensive end at this point in his career. Remember the name Cameron Jordan, ladies and gentlemen, because he’s going to be a very good player for a very long time.
