Justin Forsett Is Key To Baltimore Ravens Win Over San Diego Chargers
Baltimore Ravens running back Justin Forsett has played at a level that no one would have expected this season. With the suspension of running back Ray Rice in effect, it was unclear where the Ravens — who want to employ a run-heavy offense under offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak – would get ground production from. Forsett has been the answer to that question, and he’ll be the key to a Week 13 win over the San Diego Chargers.
Justin Forsett has stepped in and provided the Ravens with the rushing attack they need to balance out a strong pass game and put them in a position of playoff contention with just five games remaining in the season. Forsett currently has career-highs in rushing attempts (155) yards (903) and touchdowns (seven) and he is currently averaging 5.8 yards a carry. His production has been crucial to Baltimore’s success, and he’ll have a chance to further that success against the Chargers.
San Diego’s defense has been mediocre against the run so far this year. They’re giving up just under 110 yards a game (15th best in the league) and opponents average 4.4 yards a carry. The Ravens are in a position in which they can take advantage of this matchup and make sure Forsett gets a lot of carries — he’s averaging about 14 a game — so he can open up the passing game and allow for play-action options.
Additionally, the Ravens are at home where they’ve had a lot of success thus far this season (4-1 at home). Utilizing Forsett well will give the Ravens a great chance to move to 8-3 on the year and keep them in playoff contention.
