5 Things On Every Chicago Bears Fan’s Christmas List

Wouldn’t it be fun if Santa Claus could grant all Bears fans even one wish to make up for a miserable season? Well, dream on, and consider adding these five things to the list.

Before each and every game this season, Marc Trestman addressed the media and proclaimed the team had a great week of practice. Obviously that hasn’t been the case, given the results that showed up during each game. I know, what is he going to say, practice sucked? My first Christmas wish is to eliminate the great practice statement — c’mon man!

I know the vultures are circling, but this one should be on the list until it actually becomes reality. Given that it’s a foregone conclusion, maybe Bears fans should be a little more vindictive for the defensive coordinator who brought down the Monsters of the Midway. Let’s wish for the end of Tucker’s career — he should never work in the NFL again — unless the Packers want him.

Obviously there are so many things not working it’s hard to find a place to start, but I suggest starting with the weakest part of the team: the defensive secondary. It’s time to cut the dead weight, and that starts with Chris Conte. Conte throws his body around trying to make big hits when he should just learn to tackle.

2. No More Shea McClellin Draft Picks

This wish is really a wish to have Phil Emery stop believing he knows more than everyone else. Shea McClellin was not targeted as a high draft pick for a reason, but Emery thought he found a diamond in the rough. Please don’t do that with the Bears’ top pick anymore, and please don’t continue to force fit McClellin into the defense — let him go.

There have been rumors — outrageous as they may be — that the Jets or Redskins would want to trade for Jay Cutler. I’m all for the Bears putting the spin of “it’s the system, not Jay” and try to offload him by any means necessary. You know some coach out there is cocky enough to think he can turn around the big-armed underachiever. This should head up every Bears fan’s wish list and would make for the best Christmas gift ever!
