NFL Rumors: New York Jets, Chicago Bears to Target QB Mike Glennon in Free Agency

By Jason Fletcher

As a rookie in 2013, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Mike Glennon completed 59.4 percent of his passes for 2,608 yards with 19 touchdowns and nine interceptions as he started the team’s final 13 games of the season. Glennon would then lose his starting job as the Buccaneers signed Josh McCown the following offseason and Mike would only appear in six games in 2014, but still completed 57.6 of his passes and threw 10 touchdowns to only six interceptions.

With the team and McCown struggling, the Buccaneers took advantage of possessing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft and selected quarterback Jameis Winston out of Florida State. Since Winston’s been in town, Glennon hasn’t started a game for Tampa and is now a free agent entering the 2017 offseason.

Draft Analyst‘s Tony Pauline is now reporting that the New York Jets will make a “big push” for the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, but that most of the NFL personnel in Indianapolis for the 2017 NFL Combine believe that Glennon will end up signing with the Chicago Bears as the Bears are the only other known suitors with interest in the former NC State product.
