Shane Ray continues to make headlines for all the right reasons as he prepares for his eventual journey into the pros. The Missouri Tigers defensive end has had a very huge year, as he was chosen as the SEC Defensive Player of the Year and looks like he should be a top draft pick in the upcoming 2015 NFL Draft.

In his first year as a starter, he set a single-season record with 14 sacks and proved he has a nose for the quarterback. Always doing his best to make big plays, Ray also has stepped up as an unspoken leader on defense, getting his teammates fired up before, during and after football games.

Ray is also a tackling machine and will put on quite the show in the upcoming Citrus Bowl against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Considering he also led the SEC with 21 tackles for a loss, he should be a difference maker in this upcoming matchup.

When it comes to his draft stock heading into the biggest game of his collegiate career, all eyes will be if he can end up making the difference by being a consistent contributor on defense. It’s no secret that he should be able to thrive in the NFL but his performance in this game will very well determine his draft status.

Future teams will look for his on the field leadership and abilities to disrupt offenses to determine what kind of impact he will have upon arrival. He’s extremely fast and his explosive first step gives him a major advantage jumping off the line of scrimmage, which will be showcased against the Golden Golphers.

Overall, expect big things out of Ray in what should be a terrific Citrus Bowl. Make no mistake about it, he will be playing with a ton of emotions as he is fully aware his future in the pros depends on it. Expect to see Ray play so well, he ends up being a top draft pic. Possibly even a first-round draft pick or quite honestly, the very first pick in the upcoming draft.
