New York Giants' Rough Season Was Not Tom Coughlin's Fault

Many New York Giants fans are probably surprised that Tom Coughlin survived this week with his job. I honestly think that Coughlin was far from the biggest problem with the Giants this past season. The main issue was the offensive line, which also happened to be the one thing that the coaching staff tried to fix before the start of the season. However, Ben McAdoo is also not to blame for the horrific 2014 season.

The Giants had a lot go wrong for them between all of the retirements at the start of the preseason and all of the injuries during the season. Chris Snee announcing his retirement at the end of July and David Wilson being forced to retire because of a lingering injury just a week later really hurt early in the season. Not to mention, the complete shift in the offense and the short adjustment period before the start of the preseason.

Victor Cruz getting hurt in Week 6 also didn’t help the morale of the team, but that did allow for Odell Beckham Jr. to become a potential Rookie of the Year. With the bad came some good and also gives Giants fans something to look forward to in the 2015 season. Can you imagine OBJ and Cruz on the same football field?

Some Giants fans were quick to blame Coughlin, but what they don’t realize is that everything takes time. Getting used to the new offensive coordinator and the new offensive line is going to take time. Who knows, maybe this season was the time they needed to get things in order.
