2015 NFL Draft: Washington Redskins Seven-Round Mock Draft, Mid-April Edition

The Washington Redskins have been one of the NFL’s most disappointing teams over the past few years, and while much of the blame has been placed upon quarterback Robert Griffin III, the entire team could use an infusion of talent. Armed with all their draft picks for the first time since Griffin arrived, the Redskins finally have an opportunity to bring in more young players to build around. With that said, here is an updated Redskins mock draft.

Losing Brian Orakpo in free agency created the need for another pass-rusher in Washington’s linebacking corps across from Ryan Kerrigan. Vic Beasley is a freaky athlete with the quickness and high motor to become a very good pass-rusher at the next level. With Kerrigan and Beasley, Washington would have a pair of young, star linebackers.

Round 2, No. 38 Overall - Cedric Ogbuehi, OT, Texas A&M

At one point in the draft process, Cedric Ogbuehi looked like a probable top-five pick. However, a torn ACL suffered in December has caused him to fall down draft boards. Picking up Ogbuehi here gives the Redskins a legitimate Pro Bowl talent, and a huge upgrade on the offensive line.

Round 3, No. 69 Overall - Ali Marpet, OG, Hobart

With the Ogbuehi selection in the second round, the Redskins got their right tackle of the future. By picking up Ali Marpet here, they are getting another steal on the offensive line. Marpet will need some time to adjust to the speed of the NFL game, but once he does that, he could be a very good starter.

Round 4, No. 105 Overall - B.J. Finney, C, Kansas State

Sticking with the offensive line theme, the Redskins will pick up their center of the future in the fourth round. B.J. Finney. Kory Lichtensteiger is getting older, and he’s never been much more than average. Finney lacks top-end athleticism, but his experience, strength and football IQ make him a good value here.

Round 5, No. 141 Overall - Gerod Holliman, FS, Louisville

Blessed with tremendous ball skills, Gerod Holliman intercepted 14 interceptions last season for Louisville, but will likely fall in the draft due to the fact he lacks any top-end skills outside of coverage. With Dashon Goldson locked in as Washington’s starter next season, Holliman could contribute in situational packages while developing into a complete player.

Round 6, No. 182 Overall - Jeff Luc, ILB, Cincinnati

Perry Riley and Keenan Robinson are both decent players, though the Redskins lack much depth behind those two. Jeff Luc is a two-down thumper with above-average instincts and strength. He isn’t a guy you want to play in a full-time role, but Luc could become a Brandon Spikes-type linebacker at the next level.

Round 7, No. 222 Overall - Sam Carter, SS, TCU

The strong safety position is yet another spot in which the Redskins lack depth. Phillip Thomas has been a draft bust, and guys like Jeron Johnson and Akeem Davis aren’t exactly world-beaters. Sam Carter doesn’t have the athleticism of some of the other safeties in the 2015 class, but his ability to diagnose plays and help in run support would make him a great depth pick for the Redskins.

Eddie Lacy Could Barely Handle 30-Yard Run

Eddie Lacy is a short yardage specialist, and when he breaks these long runs he definitely will come out of the game every time. This huge run setup the Packers' go-ahead touchdown and they would never look back. Lacy would get his later in the game.
