2015 NFL Draft; 5 Players the Washington Redskins Should Have Selected

The Washington Redskins had a full complement of draft picks for the first time in recent memory, as they had 10 total picks in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Even though they added some much-needed depth, here are five players the Redskins should have drafted this year.

Gaines has only played cornerback for two years, but he earned some sort of all-conference honor both seasons (First-Team All-AAC in 2013, Honorable Mention All-ACC in 2014). The best may still be ahead for Gaines, and the Redskins took a riskier-looking corner (Arkansas' Tevin Mitchel) seven picks earlier in the sixth round.

In an overall sense, I like the selection of offensive lineman Brandon Scherff with the fifth overall pick. But Beasley would have filled Washington's need for an outside pass rusher a bit sooner than they addressed it.

3. Derron Smith, FS, Fresno State

Smith's play dropped off as a senior, after he totaled 13 interceptions over the previous two seasons, and recent sports hernia surgery led to him falling to the sixth round (No. 197). The Redskins took a safety that does not appear to have the same potential (Kyshoen Jarrett) 16 picks earlier.

2. Kyle Emanuel, OLB, North Dakota State

Under the premise of drafting an outside linebacker in the fifth round, I like Emanuel better than who the Redskins went with at No. 141 overall (Martrell Spaight).

1. Jeremy Langford, RB, Michigan State

Florida RB Matt Jones was a reach in the third round (95th overall). Langford was still available, and his skill set looks like a better compliment to Alfred Morris.
