5 Jacksonville Jaguars Facing Make-or-Break Seasons In 2015

The Jacksonville Jaguars are one of the NFL’s up-and-coming teams. Offensively, they are going to improve thanks to their second-year quarterback Blake Bortles and the young weapons that they have surrounded him with. Defensively, they aren't great, but head coach Gus Bradley has a great defensive pedigree. That said, some Jaguars are going to be expendable if they don’t step up this year. Here are five Jaguars facing make-or-break seasons.

Marcedes Lewis signed a one-year deal with the Jaguars this past offseason, but he hasn’t been that successful for them lately. Lewis has missed 13 games over the last two seasons, and at age 31, it’s safe to wonder if he’ll ever be effective again. If Lewis doesn’t play well for the Jaguars this season across from Julius Thomas, he won’t be an NFL starter again. Things don’t look good for Lewis, who hasn’t topped 500 receiving yards since 2012.

4. Ziggy Hood, Defensive Lineman

Ziggy Hood has never really lived up to being a first-round pick. Hood is entering the second year of a four-year, $ 16 million deal, and if he performs poorly once again, he could easily be cut from the team. Hood didn’t start a game last season, and he only notched one sack in limited playing time as a backup. Hood may never find his place on the Jaguars, and if he can’t perform well as a rotational guy, I wouldn’t expect him back in 2016.

3. Davon House, Cornerback

Davon House only started 14 games in four years for the Green Bay Packers, so the Jaguars paying him like a starter was surprising. He projects to be the Jaguars' nickel cornerback this season, but given his lack of starting experience, House could easily be a bust signing. Gus Bradley will probably coach him up, but if he doesn’t play well Aaron Colvin could take over for him. The pressure is on for House in his first year with Jacksonville.

2. Paul Posluszny, Linebacker

Paul Posluszny is a great starting middle linebacker, but he has had some health concerns during his NFL career. Last season, Posluszny tore his pectoral muscle and missed nine games. Given that he will turn 31 in the middle of the season, it may be hard for him to ever fully return to form. If Posluszny starts to decline, then the Jaguars may replace him with a younger option in the 2016 offseason.

1. Luke Joeckel, Offensive Tackle

In two NFL seasons, Luke Joeckel has not looked like a top-five pick. Joeckel has struggled at left tackle, despite playing there for all of 2014, and he desperately needs to improve in order to keep his job. Joeckel also missed time during his rookie year with an injury, so he did miss out on some crucial development then. Joeckel has to improve, or the Jaguars will find a new left tackle and move him to the right side.

Jaguars' Dante Fowler Referees Brawl Between Baby Mama, GF

Dante Fowler missed his entire rookie campaign in 2015 with a torn ACL, and his offseason is getting off to an equally disappointing start. TMZ has released a video allegedly showing Fowler essentially refereeing a fight in a Florida apartment complex between his current girlfriend and his baby mama.
