5 Most Disappointing San Diego Chargers Players In 2015

By Brad Berreman

The San Diego Chargers had a disappointing season across the board in 2015, with a 4-12 record and a last place finish in the AFC West. It’s hard to specifically place blame after such a train wreck, but here are the five most disappointing Chargers for this season.

5. S Eric Weddle

I'm not going to question Weddle's motivation, as his relationship with the Chargers' organization fell apart through the season. But he definitely had a disappointing 2015, with zero interceptions and three missed games (with some controversy in Week 17) as he heads into free agency this offseason.

4. LB Donald Butler

Butler played all 16 games this season, starting nine, but he had just 43 total tackles. He is severely overpaid ($4.65 million base salary for 2016), so Butler looks like a legitimate offseason cut candidate for the Chargers.

3. CB Brandon Flowers

After a good first season with the Chargers in 2014, Flowers showed serious signs of decline this season as injuries mounted. He should get a chance to prove 2015 was just a bump in the road, but an offseason contract restructuring is probably in store.

2. TE Ladarius Green

Antonio Gates' early-season suspension opened a proverbial door for Green, perhaps once and for all. He had two touchdowns during that time, but he finished with 37 receptions for 429 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games as Gates outproduced him (56 catches for 630 yards) in two fewer games. Green is headed for free agency, so he may never reach his potential in a Chargers uniform.

1. RB Melvin Gordon

As the second running back drafted last year, Gordon may have been a victim of inflated expectations. But even with that in mind he had a disappointing rookie season, averaging just 3.5 yards per carry with zero touchdowns before a knee injury ended it with two games left.
