5 Bold Predictions For Philadelphia Eagles’ Offseason

After yet another disappointing season, the truth is that fans have no idea what the Philadelphia Eagles are doing anymore. That said, here are a few bold predictions for what the team will be up to this offseason.

5. Nolan Carroll And Walter Thurmond Will Receive Walking Papers

No one really got over the Nnamdi Asomugha debacle, and Carroll and Thurmond became the lightning rods for everything wrong with the Eagles because they looked like two more overpriced additions to a secondary that seemed to get torched every week. They're both too expensive and too old, and letting both walk will clear up to $6 million in cap space.

4. Offensive Line Concerns Will Remain An Issue All Offseason

The health of Jason Peters is a question mark again. Evan Mathis was never successfully replaced. No matter who the Eagles pick up, it seems like they never have enough bodies or the right guys. With all the picks they have, they may want to look at two guys. Then again, they may not be able to do that with so many other concerns. At least they re-signed Lane Johnson.

3. They Will Butcher Their First-Round Pick Again

With all that the Eagles gave up to get Sam Bradford, they have to nail their first-round pick. With the hire of Doug Pederson, they may look for a quarterback to run yet another offensive system. The problem is that none of the guys in this year's draft class are locks. The truth is that they need to address the defense, and that pick probably needs to be a defensive end. They'll find a way to screw that up though.

2. They'll Find And Overpay A Defensive End In Free Agency

Fletcher Cox needs help, but don't expect this team's habit of going for the quick fix in free agency to end in 2016. It's safe to say that they'll hand whatever cap money they free to two or more high-priced acquisitions. They won't see the need to address the defensive line early in the draft because they'll find one around March and sign him for too long and too much.

1. Sam Bradford Will Be Back

There's really no other alternative. The Eagles may draft a guy, but he will need time to develop. Sam Bradford will be re-signed as a bridge until they can get a guy they'll actually want to lead the offense. The bright side may be that the Eagles won't have to give Bradford as much as he is looking for, since his value in the free agent market isn't close to what he thinks it is.
