Cincinnati Bengals' 5 Biggest Draft Needs Heading Into 2016 Combine

By Geoffrey Knox

There are many reasons to admire Marvin Lewis. He took a once proud team that couldn’t create success, and he gave it hope. The Cincinnati Bengals are now dealing with something they’re still trying to get used to and it’s called expectations. This team has drafted just about as well as you can. Pretty much everybody has worked out. They boast one of the youngest, most talented and most exciting teams we have seen in quite some time, but come playoff time, they can’t get out of their own way. Another draft is looming, and here are five areas they may want to solidify.

5. Safety

This could be exactly what they need to get over the hump. It wouldn't hurt if the safety they added was mature, a locker room leader and possessed some leadership ability as well. That seems to be an area where they are severely lacking on defense.

4. Nose Tackle

They have solid talent at all three levels on the defensive side, but for the first time in a couple of years, depth may begin to become a question mark. It wouldn't hurt to bring in some younger legs to relieve some of the veterans of a few snaps.

3. Center

There's no way to say this nicely. Russell Bodine just can't play. He's been getting dominated, it can't be hidden and it can't be ignored for too much longer. They absolutely have to take one in the draft.

2. Linebacker

Due to a combination of age, maturity and the fact that they may lose two of them, the Bengals need to start thinking of adding some bodies at the linebacker position. It wouldn't hurt to get some positive influences around Vontaze Burfict either.

1. Wide Receiver

Four of their wide receivers are at the end of their contracts, and it's highly unlikely that all of them will be back. It may not be financially feasible to sign more than two of them to long-term deals anyway with other needs to address.
