Before the pre-draft process began, Ole Miss‘ Laquon Treadwell was the consensus No. 1 wide receiver on the board. Unfortunately for Treadwell, he didn’t run all that well at the NFL Combine or his pro day which has sent him sliding in the first round. Now many experts believe that TCU‘s Josh Doctson is the top receiver, and he’s suddenly become a hot commodity if you believe the rumors.
The Cincinnati Bengals lost both Mohamed Sanu and Marvin Jones in free agency which leaves them extremely thin at the receiver position behind A.J. Green. The Bengals hold the No. 24 pick in the first round, and they reportedly have fallen in love with Doctson. The only problem is that reports are indicating the Minnesota Vikings love him as well, and they select one spot ahead of the Bengals at No. 23.
According to FOX Sports’ Alex Marvez, the Bengals could be looking to move up ahead of the Vikings with the hope of drafting Doctson.

The move makes a lot of sense as the Bengals need a receiver opposite Green who can win one-on-ones so that defenses can’t double Green all the time. Tyler Eifert is a stud, but he plays in the middle of the field and won’t be able to play that role.
Doctson finished 2015 with 79 catches for 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns despite only essentially playing nine games. He has the size that NFL teams like as he stands 6-foot-3, he runs great routes and he ran a 4.50 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. Doctson would be a perfect fit for the Bengals’ offense.
