Adrian Peterson Is All-In On The Teddy Bridgewater Hype As He Compares QB To Tom Brady

The Minnesota Vikings went 11-5 in 2015 and clinched the NFC North title with a season-ending 20-13 over the rival Green Bay Packers. Despite their success during the regular season, the Vikings were defeated by the Seattle Seahawks in the Wild Card round of the playoffs by a score of 10-9. In order to get to the next level, the Vikings desperately need the offense to take the next step.

In an effort to provide more weapons for quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, the Vikings selected wide receiver Laquon Treadwell out of Ole Miss in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft and also added tackle Andre Smith and guard Alex Boone through free agency. With Adrian Peterson and Stefon Diggs already in tow, the Vikings’ offense has the pieces in place to be much improved in 2016.

Despite the influx of talent, the Vikings’ offense will only go as far as Bridgewater can take them, and Peterson believes that the third-year quarterback is ready to lead them to the Super Bowl.

“We are going to have a good chance to win it this year — win everything,” Peterson said. “Sit back and watch. Sit back and watch. You can be like, ‘I thought you guys were at least a couple of years away.’ Nope. You sit back and watch, this year.”

Peterson continued on Bridgewater:

“He reminds me of a Tom Brady because Tom Brady is great at those mediocre passes,” Peterson said. “Those short passes and midrange passes and that’s exactly what Teddy does as well. He’s the type of guy that needs the receiver that runs routes and that’s at a specific location that you’re practicing. So I feel like with the additions that we’ve made to the offensive line and of course me envisioning what I’ll be able to bring to the offense as well I think that’s going to make his job a lot easier. With that he’ll feel more comfortable and he can really get back there and just play his game. So I’m expecting big things from Teddy this year.”

Now I understand that Peterson is supposed to say great things about his teammate and probably believes he’s improved to a degree, but there’s no way that he truly believes Bridgewater is about to become one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. At least Brady will occasionally take shots down the field; Bridgewater would rather get sacked or run with the ball than throw the ball more the 25 yards.

Until Bridgewater shows he’s able to throw the deep ball, teams will continue to crowd the line of scrimmage and make things difficult on Peterson and the Vikings’ offense.
