Last summer, the Jacksonville Jaguars suffered a major setback when first-round pick Dante Fowler Jr. went down for the season with a devastating knee injury.
Unfortunately for Jacksonville’s sake, history appears to be repeating itself, as rookie cornerback and former Florida State standout Jalen Ramsey — who was taken at No. 5 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft — has a small meniscus tear in his knee.

The Jaguars released the following statement via Twitter:
“Jalen Ramsey sustained a small tear to the meniscus in his right knee during phase two on-field workouts. Ramsey is obtaining a second opinion next week. More information will be available when Head Team Physician Kevin Kaplan and the Jaguars athletic training staff determine the appropriate medical care.”
Obviously, the hope is that Ramsey will still be ready for Week 1. But if further tests prove the injury to be more serious than initially diagnosed, Ramsey could end up missing most — if not all — of his rookie campaign just like Fowler Jr. before him.
